To follow this traceability trail, farmers have to keep comprehensive records of their livestock. Each dairy cow has a unique passport that can trace its mother, place of birth and any movements throughout her lifetime.
We're taking time out from the dairy farm to appear at events across the country. As well as flying the flag for dairy farming in each of our regions, we will explain – in our own words – what dairy farming means to us and to the UK as a whole.
Being a dairy farmer is such a rewarding job, especially the breeding. I imagine how they'll turn out as adult cows and how we'll work together as a team to produce milk for the future.Abi Reader
